Wolseley set to sell off three of its UK divisions according to unconfirmed reports

Unconfirmed press reports have been speculating this weekend that building material suppliers Wolseley have placed three of its businesses up for sale including builder’s merchant, Build Centre.

According to reports in the Sunday Times Wolseley has appointed the Bank of America Merrill Lynch to oversee the sale of Build Centre, Electric Centre and Encon in what is expected to raise approximately £300m.

Build Centre has 200 UK branches which supply construction and building materials and services into UK construction. Build Centre employs more than 1000 personnel and accounts for approximately 15% of Wolseley’s UK Sales.

The paper also reported that Travis Perkins, Saint Gobain and Grafton have all registered an interest.
