As we rapidly approach the festive season and 2012 is drawing to a close we here at Recipro are reflecting on a fantastic year for the team.
This time last year Recipro launched its corporate services for suppliers and contractors simultaneously with the opening of our first dedicated reuse centre, ReciproCity Wirral. With the centre now celebrating its first anniversary, having already diverted over 100 tonnes of materials otherwise destined for waste, saving community projects tens of thousands of pounds in the process.
In July, Welsh Minister for the Environment and Sustainability, John Griffiths, officially opened the second ReciproCity in Cardiff in conjunction with Constructing Excellence in Wales.
Special thanks must go to both the contractors, suppliers and community schemes we have worked with in 2012. Recipro has been delighted with the response from the industry having worked with a number contractors and suppliers on our corporate schemes. We have also worked with some inspirational community projects which play a key role in the heart of the communities where we work.
As always it has been great to be recognised for our work and earlier this year we were delighted to accept the award for Merseyside Environmental Business of the Year. We have also been shortlisted for a number of other awards both locally and nationally.
2012 also saw the Recipro team raise nearly £2000 for Marie Curie with the completion of the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, a gruelling 26 mile trek over three of the largest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales national park. We are very grateful to all our sponsors for their generosity; watch out for the Recipro challenge 2013 (suggestions welcome!).
Once again we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the people who have supported us during 2012 and we look forward to working together in 2013. We have some exciting plans as we look to grow our services and network of ReciproCities, so watch this space!
